BULGARIA - Exploring the COUNTRY
VITOSHA MOUNTAIN
Sofia
is lucky to be at the foot of the majestic Vitosha mountain. Standing
at a proud 2290 metres high, the mountain provides hiking and skiing
opportunities for the city's residents and can be a welcome break from
the summer heat only 15 km away from the centre of town.
THE COUNTRYSIDE
Bulgaria is a Balkan nation with diverse terrain encompassing Black Sea coastline, a mountainous interior and rivers, including the Danube. A cultural melting pot with Greek, Slavic, Ottoman, and Persian influences, it has a rich heritage of traditional dance, music, costumes, and crafts.
